In Skin, Face, and the Space Between, Chianing Tu presents a visceral inquiry into the physiology of "face"—often referred as mianzi in Mandarin - a complex sociological concept in Asian society, representing prestige, dignity, and reputation, operating as a vital social currency. Moving between cultural expectations and the liminal experience of living between East and West, this somatic and contemporary performance explores how social pressure shapes the anatomy of our presence. Through 30 minutes of rich movement followed by a 15-minute facilitated interaction, Chianing invites the audience to observe the moments where the body folds, unpacks, navigates, and eventually finds its re-alignment. This is more than a dance; it is a research-based ritual of reclaiming one's value within the space between cultures.

Set Menu is a brand new play from the brilliant Dexter Harding directed by the wonderful Cara Crozier-Cole. The play follows a Friday night. The food is ready, the drinks are cold, the cutlery is set. Max is primed to throw the perfect dinner party. He has to. Nothing but perfection will do, because nothing else seems to have worked. After a hundred attempts, he knows exactly what to do, what to say and where to say it. It’s 7: 24PM. The doorbell rings. It’s showtime. A few hours later, the guests are piling into their taxis, laughing, singing, belts loosened, eyes wide, as Max waits for the clock to tell him he is free. This time for sure, has earned a tomorrow. Set Menu begins almost six hundred days later. Max has tried and failed to escape so many times that he is losing all sense of time, reality and himself. No matter what he throws at the wall, nothing even begins to stick. The clock resets, the guests forget and he begins again at square one. By now, he has basically stopped trying. So much so, that on a particularly awful night of shouting matches, food poisoning and a small fire, he decides to reset the night early with a kitchen knife. Only, when he wakes up to try again, something is different. He has lost a pen. And for the first time in almost two years, he seems to have made some progress. So the plan is simple: Chaos. He is going to beat whatever force is keeping him trapped at its own game by doing everything he can think of to make this the worst dinner party in the history of dinner parties. Armed with an intricate knowledge of the house’s contents and the guests’ psyches, he will take on the role of a twisted puppeteer with nothing to lose. The food is burnt, the drinks are spiked, the cutlery is sharpened. But as the anarchy begins to reach its peak, Max is confronted with a terrifying truth, one that he has long forced himself to forget. One of the guests was never supposed to be there. And they might just know more than they let on...

What happens when an awkward English woman and a loud Australian backpacker have to share a flat? Sounds like the start to a bad joke or a very good play. Faith has a whisper. She has for the past year. It tells her how she should feel and what she should do. It helps her decide whether she's doing well or failing. It helps her to cope until she reluctantly has to rent her spare room to Timmy, the overly positive Aussie. He instantly destroys the organised reality she has created for herself and in doing so, opens her eyes to how she has been living. Who knew it would all start with the appearance of a potted plant? Faith is clear lines and boundaries whereas Timmy is blurred areas and intrusive friendliness. This play is a comedy which tackles darker themes but also highlights how different people can help fix the things you thought were broken.

The story has been adapted for the 80s decade, and centres on the character of a former boxer, Joe, once full of potential, whose life spirals downward as he becomes consumed by his addiction to cocaine. He struggles with the overwhelming cravings and the need to escape from reality. Also, caught in the turmoil of growing cocaine addiction is Nora, who wrestles with feelings of love, helplessness, and frustration. Through these characters, King explores themes of dependency, self-destruction, and the impact of addiction on relationships. King's writing is poignant in its portrayal of the human psyche, and the work is rich in themes of self-deception, moral decay, and the conflict between desire and consequence, making it a powerful commentary on the broader societal issue of drug addiction.

Fifty minutes, ten souls, and one man who has absolutely no idea why his cosmic debt keeps going up. Charon is a ferryman. His friends call him Charlie, or they would if he had any friends. Every day (or whatever passes for a day outside of time) he picks up the recently deceased at the eastern docks and rows them west to their final destination. He knows, when each soul boards, that they're headed for the Bad Place. But if they can face themselves honestly over the course of the crossing, they can change their fate. Charlie wants them to win. He just can't do it for them. What he can do is provide unmatched customer service. And this comes in the form of people-pleasing, mirroring his client-souls, contorting himself to the point of unrecognisability. To cope, he hits the coffee, flask, and cigs on rotation between rides. Whatever it takes to get through the day. His debt, tracked on a glowing monitor upstage like a cosmic game show, keeps climbing. He doesn't understand why. We begin to suspect. Then his girlfriend boards. And by the end, his own mother. This is a play about the gap between being nice and being honest, and what each one costs. It's also about the liminal space between life and death and the places we need to go to come home. Drawing on Portuguese family recipes and queer experience, Maria-Rapaz asks: what counts as art? Who gets recognised? And what kinds of knowledge travel when we share a meal? The audience is invited to sit, to taste, and to witness a story about what it means to be sustained — not just fed — in a world that rewards spectacle over care. We'll get to know the story of Cherry in the only place where she's got a spotlight: a police interrogatory room, after pledging guilty for the death of the rockstar. Did she kill him? Inspired by the writing of clinical psychologist Alan Downs in his book, The Velvet Rage: Overcoming the Pain of Growing Up Gay in a Straight Man’s World, Broken Boys dissects the bully-to-lover TV trope and meditates on the impact of toxic masculinity on the modern gay relationship. Set somewhere in the UK, two men – Tom and Michael – recount their ill-fated love story to an ominous third person. They couldn’t be more different: Tom just wants to be seen as a man, whilst Michael wants men to see him as anything but. From their days in school, through to college nights, a global pandemic and one fateful day in 2029, these boys grapple for connection whilst bearing the weight of the gender they were assigned at birth. Broken Boys explores the themes of identity, boyhood and binaries, mental health and queer love. It asks: in a world where men are taught not to show emotion, how do gay men fall in love? The course of true love never did run smooth, especially for these boys.
